The statements of the problem were focused on teacherÂ’s way in managing classroom, the problems faced by the teacher in applying classroom management and how the teacher solve those problems. This study used descriptive qualitative research design. The instruments used were non participant observation and structured interview. Then, the subject of this study was an English teacher who taught English at the seventh grade of SMP Negeri I Banyuglugur. The result of this study showed that the teacher could apply the classroom management well during teaching and learning process. The teacher did some preparation such as preparing teaching material, setting rules, and arranging studentÂ’s seating. Unfortunately, the teacher did not make lesson plan before teaching. Furthermore, to manage the class, the teacher used some aspects of classroom management such as withitness, momentum and smoothness, studentsÂ’ accountability, overlapping, and satiation and challenge arousal. During managing the class, the teacher found some external and internal problems, the external problems encountered by the teacher were the lackness of text book, facilities, and media that supported the teaching learning process. The internal problems faced by the teacher were studentsÂ’ misbehavior such as walking around the class and rocking the chair, tapping their feed and drumming on the desk, laughing and talking with the other about something unrelated to the lesson, and writing notes to friend during teaching and learning process. Since the main problem came from the students, the teacher solved that by giving punishment to student who behaved improperly and did not follow the rules. The punishment was not physically harmful. To punish the students, the teacher gave them minus score and additional task.
