- In teaching learning process, the teacher might get some problems. The problems faced by teacher in teaching English are divided into two, they are linguistic and non-linguistic problems. Linguistic problems are the problems which came from the language itself and causing difficulties for people who study it. Besides, non-linguistic problem are the problems that influence the teaching language process. This study concerns with the linguistic problems faced by English teacher in teaching reading at MTs Negeri Batu. The researcher conducts this study because he would like to analyze the teacher problems in teaching reading and the way to solve the problems. The purposes of this study were to find out the linguistic problems faced by teacher and the ways to solve the problems in teaching reading at MTs Negeri Batu. In this study, the researcher used descriptive research design. The object of this study was an English teacher who teaches reading at 9th grades. The instrument used to collect the data were observation and interview. The unstructured interview and non-participant observation were used in this study. The result of this study indicated that the problems covered linguistic problems. In the linguistic problems, the researcher only focused on pronounciation, grammar, and vocabulary. There were the problems of linguistic such as difficulties in pronouncing some words, mistakes in using correct sentence structure, and limitation of vocabulary. The linguistic problems were caused by teacher herself. The solution of linguistic problems employed by the teacher were teacher spoke more slowly when saying a difficult pronounciation of some word, used pause, used simple sentences, replaced unfamiliar words with what more commonly used words.
