- English is taught in Indonesian school as foreign language. Many students find the difficulties in comprehend English. Instructional media are the important things when conducting instructional process, because instructional media have function to overcome the obstacles in communicating, physical limitation in a class, and passive attitude of students. This research is conducted to find the kinds of instructional media that the teachers used and to know the teachersÂ’s way in using instructional media when conducting instructional process with curriculum 2013. Instructional media helps the students to understand the material clearly. This research used descriptive qualitative research design. The subjects of this research are the first grade English teachers at SMK PGRI 3 Malang who are conducting instructional process using curriculum 2013. Interview and observation were used to collect the data about the use of instructional media. The results of this research show that the English teachers have applied three kinds of instructional media. They are visual media, audio-visual media, and multimedia. Visual media used are white board, dictionary books, and textbooks. Furthermore, audio-visual media used is video. Then, multimedia used are tablet pc, laptop, and LCD projector. Besides, the teachersÂ’ way in using instructional media is suitable with the objective of curriculum 2013 which encourages the students to be active in the class during instructional process. From this result, it can be seen that the use of instructional media at SMK PGRI 3 Malang is suitable with the demands of curriculum 2013.
