- In teaching learning activity especially for speaking skill based on curriculum 2013, the teacher might get some problems. The problems faced by English teacher in teaching speaking skill based on curriculum 2013 are divided into : the problems, the dominant problems, and the solutions of the problems. In this research, the researcher used descriptive qualitative design. The subject of this research was the English teacher in SMAN 1 MALANG. The instrument to collect the data were observation letter and unstructured interview. The purposes of this research were to find some problems and the dominant problems that faced by English teacher in teaching speaking skill based on curriculum 2013 and also the solutions for those problems. The result of this research were covered the problems, the dominant problems and the solutions of the problems. The problems were the teacher felt strange of the exchange of the curriculum and confused how to implement it in the class, time, giving the score, the grammar usage, pronunciation and vocabularies of the students, lack of motivation, students are shy and noisy in the class, both teacher and students still strange with curriculum 2013 and still stuck with the previous curriculum, and teacher are still need guiding. The dominant problems were teacher and students feeling strange of curriculum 2013 and stuck in the previous curriculum The solutions of the problems related with curriculum 2013 were conducting the lesson study or workshop, meeting with another school which has implement curriculum 2013 to share the ideas, forcing the students to speak up in front of the class and gives a lot of motivation to the students, avoid some studentsÂ’ errors in speaking for a while. The students also can have a group conversation in the class. So, speaking English will be the routine activity for the students.
