  • The objective of this present study is to gain information about the implementation of Three-Step Interview method in class, the problems faced by the tutor on implementation the method, and the ways the tutor solve the problems. The design of this study is descriptive qualitative to obtain the information about the implementation of Three-Step Interview on teaching speaking. The writer used observation and interview as the instrument in order to obtain the findings of the study. From the observation and interview the writer answers the implementation of Three-Step Interview used by the tutor in the class. Therefore, the result of interview that was conducted showed the problems faced by the tutor and how she solved the problems. The results of this current study showed the ways the tutor implement the method were in line with the fundamental of Three-Step Interview method itself. The result also showed there were five problems faced by the tutor on the process implementing Three-Step Interview method. They were; the topic, the number of the students, the fluency, the pronunciation, and the confidence. In order to solved those problems, the tutor used several strategies which were; the students were free to choose their topic, the tutor took a role as participant on interview, the tutor were giving time for students to prepare the speech, the tutor asked their students to practice speaking regularly by themselves, and the tutor gave a positive feedback toward the studentsÂ’ performance.
