- In this study, the researcher was interested in analysis the teaching learning activities of reading skill in Junior High School English textbook based on the 2013 English Curriculum. In detail, this study is to investigate the reading activities of “When English Rings the Bell” published by Ministry of National Education based on 2013 English Curriculum for the Seventh Grade Junior High Shool and the dominant activity for reading activities. In analyzing the textbooks, the writer used descriptive research design, the instrument used was documentation. The findings of this research show that the reading activities in this textbook there are thirteen types in intructions mean the reading activities it self. Those are; In Pre-reading researcher found three activities include doing exercise, question answer, and singing a song. Next is While-reading, the researcher found of eight activities. The following are observing, reading, practising, telling, making, asking, writing, and trying. In each of activities has a kinds of topics.The last is Post-reading there are two of activities; singing a song and reflection. From all activities, dominant activities of this textbook are question answer in pre-reading, observing the picture, reading the text, asking to the classmater, writing in the table list and based on the picture, and trying to describe in the while-reading, in the last is reflection found them in post-reading (every in last meeting). Consequently, the reading activities that are presented is appropriate with indicator in teaching learning acrivities based on 2013 English Curriculum for Junior High School. The scientific approach is applied through random in each learning activity that is in chapters.
