  • Learning style is the studentsÂ’ way in taking a lot of essential information of their learning. Thus, the teachers need to study about the information of their learnersÂ’ learning styles especially for the low achievers in order to adapt an appropriate teaching strategy in the class. This research focused on investigating the learning styles the low achiever students use in structure class at English Department of University of Muhammadiyah Malang, the problems the low achiever students face in applying their learning styles, and the way the low achiever students solve their problems in applying their learning styles. This research used the descriptive research design and the qualitative approach since it was aimed at giving a deep description about the studentsÂ’ learning styles, their problems and their solutions in solving the problems in applying their own learning styles in structure class. The respondents of this research were students who were categorized as low achievers. The criteria of being low achievers was determined based on their score in the structure course, that is 60 and below. The result of this research showed that the low achievers in structure class employed various styles in learning structure such as visual, auditory, and kinesthetic styles. Furthermore, the problems which were experienced by low achievers in structure class include: (1) The class circumstance was noisy; (2) teaching activities were monotonous; (3) The presentation activity was not well-managed; (4) The students felt unconfident in the learning activities; and (5) The teacher was too fast in explaining the materials. In addition, the solutions employed by the low achievers in solving their problems include: (1) The students worked in cooperative groups; (2) The students searched the additional references from the internet; (3) The students kept moving in learning activities; and (4) The students prepared the material well.
