  • Language plays an important role in our life. Without language, people may find several obstacles when they do their activities toward others. Language used by the adjudicators and the contestants of Master Chef Indonesia program is different. They often mix between English and Bahasa Indonesia in their utterance to make the program different from others. Accordingly, in this study, the writer is interested in analysing code mixing in Master Chef Indonesia program used by the adjudicators and the contestants. In details, this study is aimed (1) to find out the code mixing used in Master Chef Indonesia Program and (2) to know the kinds of code mixing used in Master Chef Indonesia Program. This study used qualitative design because the writer only described and interpreted the phenomenon that existed in Master Chef Indonesia Program. The subjects of this study were the adjudicators and the contestants of Master Chef Indonesia Program. This study used observation and documentation as the research instrument. After analysing the data, five kinds of code mixings used by the adjudicators and the contestants in Master Chef Indonesia Program were found, they were 63 code mixing in the form of words, 22 code mixing in the form of phrases, 11 code mixing in the form of hybrids, 4 code mixing in the form of repetition words, 1 code mixing in the form of clause, and 1 code mixing in the form of idiom. The most dominant kind of code mixing used by the adjudicators and the contestants was code mixing in the form of word. The use of code mixing was to make the program to be more interesting and the participant will be more confident to present the program.
