- The Litte Friend was a kind of mistery novel. It told aboaut harriet, the main female character, who lost her only brother that was found hanged on the tree in front of her house. All people, including the cops and harrietÂ’s family, believed that harrietÂ’s brother committed suicide, but harriet believed thaat he was murdered. Therefore, herriet faced some complex conflict in her strunggle to break the mistery of her brotherÂ’s death. In the study, the writer focused on the psycological conflict that were faced by harriet. The writer interested in finding the cause of harrietÂ’s psychological conflict and the problem solving that was reflected in the novel. By the novel The Litte Friend, the writer would like to explore thedialogues or monologues by harriet related to the cause of her psychological conflict. The purposes of tis stuy were, to find the cause of psycological conflict faced by harriet in this novel and to find how harriet solved her psycological conflicts. This study used qualitative reseach and applied descriptive as the reseach design because this study was analyzed descriptively. To achive the answer of the problem of study above , this study used objective of the approach since the writer committed interpretation as the analysis on the literary work without observe the authorÂ’s life. From the result of the data analysis, it could be concluded that there were two causes of harrietÂ’s psycological conflict in this novel the were sadness and hatred feeling. As the result, Harriet decided to solve her psycological conflicts by rasionalization. Finally, for the English DepartmentÂ’s student and the English lectureres, it was expected that this study will be useful in understanding the tendncy of studenÂ’s psycological conflicts because the similiar psycological conflicts were possible to be faced by adult, to it could be didi a further assist. Meanwhile, for the next researches, it was suggested to analyze the other kinds of conflict in this novel because this novel had many conflicts to be analyzed.
