  • Background : Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a learning method that uses problem to learn problem-solving skills, communication, responsibility, independence in learning, and respect for others. The problem is often faced by students of PSIK FIKES UMM which are lack of self-monitoring such as difficult to adjust in variety situation, difficult to communicate in interpersonal relationship or group. Student achievement evaluation of 64 students show that 17 students have IP very satisfied (>3,00), 23 students have IP satisfied (2,75 – 3,00) and 24 students have less satisfied (<2,75). The aim of this study is to identified the relationship of self-monitoring and achievement motivation in students by learning Problem Based Learning (PBL) method. Methods : The design of this study is Cross Sectional, whichthe independent variable is the self-monitoring and the dependent variable was achievement motivation. This study was conducted in March 2015 at PSIK FIKES UMM. The subject in this study are students of PSIK FIKES UMM from grade 2012-2014 and amount to 83 students. The samples were taken by Stratified Random Sampling method. Data analysis was performed using SPSS21 computerization system with Pearson Product Moment test. Result : The result of self-monitoring with high category is 10 respondents (12,05%), middle category is 56 respondents (67,47%), and low category is 17 respondents (20,48%). Meanwhile achievement motivation obtained with high category is 10 respondents (12,05%), middle category is 59 respondents (71,08%), and low category is 14 respondents (16,87%). While p=value 0,000 which means the value smaller than 0,05. Conclusions : There is a relationship between self-monitoring and achievement motivation in student by learning Problem Based Learning (PBL) method.
