In other words, each student has a unique learning style. Therefore, this study was focused on the learning style. In this study the writer formulated the following problems, namely (1) What is the most dominant learning style employed by the third semester students of English Department at Muhammadiyah University of Malang? (2) What is the fewest learning style employed by third semester students of English Department at Muhammadiyah University of Malang? The purpose of the study was to find out the answers to the problems stated above. The design of this study was descriptive qualitative research design. The writer used one class namely class A as the subject of this research. It consists of 38 students from the third semester students of English Department. The data was collected by using questionnaire simultaneously as instrument in this study. The activity to collect the data was conducted on 15 October 2003. To analyse the data the writer did some steps: (1).The writer classified the close questioner into three main categories: visual, auditorial and kinaesthetic. (2) The writer counted the sum of each learning style then made them into percentage of each learning style. (3) The writer interpreted the data in detail and drawn conclusion. Based on the result of data analysis, the writer found that the most dominant learning style employed by third semester students of English department was visual learning style. And the fewest was kinaesthetic learning style. Finally, the writer suggested to the next researcher to study learning style in other fields, such as in office, business or human relation. Another suggestion was also delivered to the English department students who study at Muhammadiyah University of Malang.
