  • This research aimed to describe the jargon used by the gamers in Warcraft III DOTA games Indonesia. This study tried to describe the kinds of jargon, meaning and word formation pattern so it is used as jargon. The jargonshave special meaning and can only be understood by this gamer community so it needs description in order to avoid the misleading toward people outside the community. This study used descriptive method because this study wastextual analysis which intends to analyze and reveal the jargon used by DOTA gamers Indonesia. This research used research instruments namely documentation and observation.The data collection started from collecting the data and then categorizing them into the kinds of jargons and word formation pattern. All data were takenfrom some sources such as www.dotaguideindonesia .com and www.dotaallstarstoday.blogspot.com which discussabout their experiences in playing the games, comments and hint from the administrator. Based on the result of the research, it was found that there were 65 (sixty five) jargons used by the DOTA gamer Indonesia. These jargons were categorized into 6 (six), they are: 1) New word by Economizing (Clipping) which consisted of 4 jargons,2) New word by Extreme Economizing consisted of 40 jargons: 10 jargons by Acronym and 30 by Abbreviation, 3) New wordby Compounding Clips and Mixing It Up (Blends) which consisted of 2 jargons4) New word by Putting ListemesTogether consisted of 12 jargons: 10 by Affixation and 2 by Compounding, 5) New word by Social Climbing which consisted of 4 jargons: 2 by Amelioration and 2 by Pejoration, 6) New word by Conversionwhich consisted of 3 jargons. So from this research, it can be concluded that the jargon is not only popular in formal situations but also in informal situations such as in DOTA gamer community. These jargons need to be explained in order not to confuse and avoid misleading toward other people outside community which are getting involved in them and also it can give the insightabout jargon language research.
