- One model of learning is cooperative learning of type Numbered Head Together (NHT). In the cooperative learning of NHT type of teaching and learning process centered on student activities. Students talk to complete tasks assigned by the teacher together in small groups. Comprehension is the ability to grasp the meaning and expressed something in its own way of knowledge that has been accepted. The knowledge that needs to be understood in mathematics is conceptual and procedural knowledge. This study aimed to describe the implementation of cooperative learning of type Numbered Head Together (NHT) in an effort to improve the understanding of fractions number of class VII B of Muhammadiyah Junior High School 2 Batu city in 2010/2011. Results showed the application of cooperative learning of type NHT in learning to enhance students understanding of class VII B of Muhammadiyah Junior High School 2 Batu city in 2010/2011. Students can comprehend the material provided by teachers, especially in fractions number. This can be seen from the results of student learning based on a test I value the class average 62.62 and 58% of students complete. Improved student learning outcomes and results from test II with an average rating of 78.97 and the class reaches 88% of students complete.
