- This research to appraise the health of banks in cooperation with the University of Muhammadiyah Malang namely Bank Negara Indonesia, Tbk and Bank Jatim, Tbk from 2010 to 2012 based on CAMELS factors contained in the annual financial statements of the bank. CAMELS analysis consists of Capital (capital), Asset (Assets), Management (management), Earnings (Profitability), Liquidity (liquidity) and Sensitivity to Market Risk (sensitivity to market risk). The purpose of this study was to determine the category of the bank in collaboration with the University of Muhammadiyah Malang then compare the health of two banks. The analytical tool used to determine the soundness of banks is the CAMELS analysis, which is a financial analysis of a bank and the bank management's assessment set by Bank Indonesia to learn about the soundness of the bank concerned. Financial performance evaluation results with the CAMELS ratios indicate that PT.Bank East Java, Tbk in 2010-2012 was ranked second with a total score of 40. The results indicated that the bank is in sound and able to withstand negative influences economic conditions and the financial industry. Bank Negara Indonesia was ranked second, with a total score of 40 in 2012, whereas in 2011 and 2012 is 38. These results indicate that the bank is in sound and able to withstand negative influences economic conditions and the financial industry. From the comparison of the banks jatim total score (40) and Bank Negara Indonesia (38) it can be seen that the financial performance of the Bank of East Java is better than Bank Negara Indonesia, although both banks equally ranks second.
