- Patient noncompliance in meal planning is one of the obstacles in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. This activity can be achieved with the participation or the participation of the family. More specific study in patients with diabetes mellitus found that 75% of patients do not adhere to the recommended diet one of the constraints due to lack of family ketelibatan. In this research the goal is to determine the level of dietary adherence in patients with diabetes mellitus and the role of family in Diabetes Mellitus diet adherence. The design of this study is a qualitative case study research approach. Data collection methods used were interviews and observation. This study has three participants, namely diabetes mellitus patients, families and health workers were respondents in IRD D Wava Husada Hospital Kepanjen. The results of this study found two themes, namely, the level of adherence to the diet of diabetes mellitus and the role of family in dietary adherence in diabetes mellitus. The lack of family role in diabetes management participation is a predisposing factor dietary noncompliance in patients with diabetes mellitus. Looking at these results it is necessary to increase the role of the family in order to dietary adherence in patients with diabetes mellitus can run well.
