One of elderly independence is presence a family support. The family support has a purpose to share the burden, it give informational support also. This is very indispensable for the elderly that has gotten physical health decline, five senses, potency, and intellectual capacity, possibility of a chronic disease such as stroke also. This research design use the study case method. The sampling method that used is purposive sampling. The sample is a family that treat elderly with stroke for 17 years in Kedungkandang district, on July 2014. Researching data was taken using in depth interview techniques. After that, the tabulated data was analyzed using content analysis techniques. The other instrument that used in this research is katz index questionnaire of elderly independence. The results of this study summarized of five theme namely, Mrs. N knowledge of stroke grade, how to care Mr. A everyday, The particular way to treat Mr. A, Mr. A health progress, and the things are done independently by Mr. A. Seeing these results of this study, family has the most important function in elderlyÂ’s independences.
