- Background : Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a clinical syndrome of metabolic disorder, characterized by the presence of hyperglycemia caused by defective insulin secretion, insulin action or both defects. Methods : The study used the interview method, anamnese, physical examination, and observation, documentation studies, literature study. Results : From this study, the results are known, as evidenced by the extension of the diet given to the gangrenous diabetic patients obtained good results with the result that the patient and able to explain about family diit, purpose, food must be eaten and should not be eaten in a diet low DM calories gangrene. Conclusion : From the results of counseling conducted on diabetic patients a few days gangrene and evaluation conducted on this patient showed that counseling is very important in the provision of low-calorie diet DM gangrene.
