Newborn babies who are born with a gestational age 37 to 42 weeks had a birth weight of 2500 grams to 4000 grams. Umbilical cord infection is a disease suffered by the newborn (neonatal) which is caused due to cutting the umbilical cord or not aseptic care (Pediatrics, 1985). Infectious diseases are a major cause of infant morbidity and mortality continuously. The penatalaksanan in this Promised by making sterilization techniques (wet gauze). This study aims to identify the prevention of umbilical cord infection in newborns with the technique of sterilization (moist gauze). Research designs used are kualitatif, the subject of research done in the newborn. Data collection techniques used were participant observation, interviews, documentation, and test methods, data analysis using the table in the observation characteristics of umbilical cord infection by using the technique of sterilization (moist gauze). From the survey results revealed that treatment of the umbilical cord by using techniques sterilization (moist gauze) is highly effective in preventing cord infection in newborns. Researchers hope this study can be made in teaching materials in providing nursingg care in preventing cord infection in newborns.
