  • Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is an application that used to recognize the text form in the digital image from the scan image. This thesis is it made an OCR application that is used to recognize the character on image that has been scanned to convert characters into text file. The main purpose of making this application is to making easy for modification process on the documents that not had a softcopy, so it’s don't need to retype on the computer. Alphanumeric character recognition application development uses Linear Disciminant Analysis (LDA) to finding a linear projection to maximize covariance matrix scatter between class and minimize covariance matrix scatter within class. Experiment on this system performed on the image that contains by word of the paragraph, italic character, colored character, and characters that have been destroyed. The result of this research is to show a kind of accurration rate, depend a kind test of the recognized text. In the word of the paragraph on this system get an accuracy rate at 98%, 96% for italic character, 94% for characters that have been destroyed, and 65% for colorful characters.
