Umbilical cord care is treatment and fastener cord that causes the physical separation between the mother's last baby, the umbilical cord and then treated in a sterile condition, clean, dry, whistle and avoid the umbilical cord infection (Ika, 2005). There are two kinds of umbilical cord care which is currently mostly done the wet treatment using alcohol and dry without alcohol treatment. This study aims to determine the effect of different length of time the release of the umbilical cord in babies who received umbilical cord care wet and dry on the Ds. Pohgajih - Blitar. This research is correlational manifold with variable treatment of wet and dry umbilical cord to release the umbilical cord long time. The samples used were all mothers in the range of birth months from January to August 2010 in Ds. Pohgajih - Blitar some 15 people. Sampling technique used is total sampling. By using the technique of T-test Independent. From the research, 8 respondents (53.3%) did wet umbilical cord care and the remaining seven respondents (46.7%) did dry cord care. The analysis result is obtained - average time off the umbilical cord is 5 days. Long off the umbilical cord is at least 3 days and longer off the umbilical cord is 7 days at most. This is because there are 2 different umbilical cord care that affect the time off the umbilical cord. It is expected to increase dry cord care so long to release the umbilical cord at speed with no complications.
