- Lung Tuberculosis is one of causes of the main death that is resulted by infection. During 1999, WHO Global Surveillance predict about 583.000 new patient of lung TB in Indonesia. Think about lung TB disease able to be fatal effect, the government necessary dealt with the problem of lung TB in Indonesia with one of the components from the DOTS strategy (Directly Observed Treatment Short Course) that is medical treatment with the OAT short-term of guidance with the direct observation by supervision swallowed medicine. With the existence of the supervision swallowed medicine especially from family able to increase the compliance of patient in undergoing medical treatment for 6 months. As for the aim of this research of being to know correlation between the observation of family in taking medicine with the compliance of patient in the Lung TB of medical treatment at area Puskesmas Gribig and Kedung Kandang, Malang. The design of the research that is used cross sectional study with the sample of the family and patient?s Lung TB who is cultivation of the community health centre in Puskesmas Gribig and Kedung Kandang, Malang. The number of samples is 53 sample is taken in totally sampling. The method of the data collection is taken used quisioner that is carried out in July 2009. The result shows that 47,2% respondents compliance of swallowed medicine with the observation of family is better and the respondent is not compliance with the observation of family is less about 22,6%. From the data above is able to the respondent?s compliance level with the good of observation from the family is bigger that compliance level is less. Afterwards the data is analysed used Chi Square Statistical Test and show p value = 0,011 <α = 0,05 that meant to have influence of the observation of family with compliance of patient?s lung TB in taking medicine at area Puskesmas Gribig and Kedung Kandang, Malang. So, The observation of the family must be increased so that the compliance of the medical treatment inpatient able to be carry out effectively and reach in recovery.
