  • Lactation is an integral part of the reproductive process which provides an ideal baby food and natural and is a basic biological and psychological needs for growth. Breastfeeding benefits not only for babies but for mothers as well. Because the feeding of uterine contractions will become stronger because of the stimulus that comes from sucking the baby there and then continued to the posterior pituitary (neurohipofise) which was then released oxytocin. This hormone in blood flow to the uterus, causing contractions of the uterus to contract the uterus ligaments grow stronger to make the uterus shrink so that its size can be shrunk as it was before pregnancy and may stop the bleeding. The purpose of this study is to identify uterine contractions in the mother breast-feeding in the post partum period. Methods: This research is correlational, with 20 respondents in the sample hospitals Kanjuruhan Kepanjen. Data collection was conducted by distributing questionnaires and conducting observation on uterine contraction and then the data is processed by using Chi Square fisher?s exact. Results from data analysis found that there are 75% of respondents have a strong uterine contractions and 25% had uterine contractions weak / soft. Based on chi square fisher?s exact is P = 0.009 and α = 0.05 then P <α and H1 accepted, while Ho is rejected, so it can be concluded there is a correlation between breastfeeding and uterine contractions on the first and second day post partum. From this research, clients and families are expected to pay attention to what needs to be done in parturition. And for the next researcher writer hoping to further develop more research is primarily about the contraction of the uterus in postpartum mothers.
