  • The pattern of eating is setting the amount and type of food eaten every day for someone to stay healthy. The role of the family here is very important in regulating the diet, especially for family members who suffer from hypertension. In preliminary studies conducted in the Village District Srigonco Bantur Malang researchers found many patients with hypertension caused by unhealthy eating patterns. For this reason the researchers interested in conducting research about the family role in regulating eating patterns in patients with hypertension that includes the type, quantity, timing and manner of preparing food. The purpose of this study to get a clear picture about the setting and specific diet of hypertensive patients by their family. This research is a descriptive type, with total population of 50 families. Sampling using total sampling with a sample of 50 respondents, the measuring tool used is observation. From the results of research showing the arrangements of food consumed in hypertensive patients may result matching 27 respondents (54%) and did not fit 23 respondents (46%), setting the amount of food consumed in hypertensive patients may result matching 27 respondents (54% ) and did not fit 23 respondents (46%), the timing of meals for hypertensive patients may result matching the 45 respondents (90%) and did not fit fifth respondent (10%) and ways to prepare food for the hypertensive patients may result based on 18 respondents (36%) and did not fit 32 respondents (64%). Given this research, the family is expected to further enhance its role in regulating the pattern of eating for family members who suffer from hypertension, for hypertensive patients themselves are also expected to maintain their habits.
