- Voice over internet protocol which is also referred as by VoIP, IP telephony, internet telephony or digital phone represent technology that enable of us to communicate long distance like at network of PTSN (Public Switched Telephone Network) being based on circuit switch through media of internet. Protocol standard used in communications of VoIP is Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) or referred as by protocol of signal and also GSM codec as process of coding and of decoding voice. Every peripheral, which relate to Internet is susceptible to security trouble like man in the middle attack, eavesdropping and analysis traffic. In this final project will be applied a special track to ensure the security and confidentiality of conversational data that is Virtual Private Network (VPN)- SSL base (Secure Socket Layer) to access a VoIP server. The researcher measured the Quality of Service (QoS) of VoIP and QoS of VoIP over a VPN. The VoIP QoS parameters measured are the delay, packet loss and throughput. Tests conducted by adding UDP traffic load ranging from 5 Mbps load, 10 Mbps, 15 Mbps, 20 Mbps, 25 Mbps, 30 Mbps, 35 Mbps, 40 Mbps and 45 Mbps. In the load test, it showed an increase in the average value of delay, packet loss and throughput, although in several other load testing decreased. In addition to VoIP QoS measurement, the researcher also performed security testing of VoIP and VoIP over VPN. From these tests it is known that VoIP communications data traffic monitored and captured by a network analyzer tool as well as VoIP communication voice data can be recorded and played back. While data traffic over a VPN VoIP communications can not be monitored or recorded.
