- At this time, the benefits of a computer network is very much felt. In the fast paced world of communication, the computer network often plays an important role in the activities of the rapid distribution of information. The many benefits of the application of computer networks is still not optimized to the educational environment Vocational School (SMK) Ma'arif Batu. SMK MaÂ’arif Batu in Panderman 26 Sisir Village, Batu subdistrict, Batu City. During this time the computer lab is still using the old system, in which each student to log in by using a single account in an Operating System. Each student also store data on the hard drive work. The old system was inefficient, because a teacher had to turn on all the computers just to retrieve data student job, then vote. Although there have been in the laboratory computer network, but not optimal utilization and benefits of the network has not been widely felt. The material used in this study is Network Installation, Installing Ubuntu Server 9.04, Samba Installation, Configuration File Server, Domain Configuration Control. Conclusion of this is to make all the folders on a centralized server, making it easier for a network administrator to manage the files that can be accessed by other users, and can also provide a password, such as add, modify or delete files that are less useful than belonging from User Account.
