  • One factor which became inspiration to make hydrology model, especially transformation of rain data into debt data was limitation of debt measurement. Sugawara tank model is one of conceptual model with concept that rain flow process into river analogized with one flow into tanks. In tank model, its approach using 3 to 4 tanks which could be arranged in serial, parallel, or both mix. Model simulation would resulted model parameters or coefficients in a river flow modeled. In four serial tanks model, there were 17 parameters should be decided and it wasn’t easy job. To overcome this, there did optimization to get optimum parameter so it could represent a modeled river flow area. In optimization model, there used genetic algorithm which show effectiveness and speed in deciding parameter. Analysis in two river flow area showed tank model with four serial arrangement tanks had great performance. This optimization technique has packed in application program with prepared Matlab programming language and could be used in another river flow area.
