- December 10, 2011 was a special moment for almost 3331 students in University of Muhammadiyah Malang. On that day, they joint ESP Graduation Day which meant that they have passed the ESP Program for two semesters. Attended by Vice Rector for Finance Affair, Drs. Mursidi, MM, Assistant Rector for International Relations, Drs Soeparto, M.Pd, and many other UMM staffs, the program was run very successfully. On his speech, Mr. Mursidi said that if we wanted to go around the world, we should master English. “Nowadays, we can communicate with other people in Africa, Europe, America, and other people in the other part of the world via facebook, twitter, and many other social networking. And of course, we can only communicate with them if we are able to speak English well. We cannot deny the fact English is number one language in the world”, Mursidi added. While Mr. Soeparto explained how important English is, especially for students. “UMM now have so many programs for students to study abroad. For example, this year we win two programs from Erasmus Mundus program to study in European countries. And you know, to apply for this scholarship, you must equip yourselves with good English, and ESP is one of ways to master the English. So I should say, congratulation for you all. By passing the ESP program, now you have a very big opportunity to study in European universities for one semester”, Soeparto fired the students’ spirit.
