  • Background Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize our own feelings and the feelings of others, the ability to motivate yourself, and the ability to manage emotions well in ourselves and in relationships with others. In adolescence, kaitanya against emosioanal intelligence often involves high emotional tension, urge is very strong emotions and uncontrollable rage make explosives and adolescents often act irrationally. The behavior violates social norms, legal norms, and religious norms, such as fights, theft, drunkenness, robbery, assault, sexual relations before marriage, and drug abuse by teenagers showed teenagers who have low emotional intelligence. Methods This is a non-experimental studies with correlational, which examined the relationship between variables with the design of this study using this type of cross-sectional study with a control group for comparison. The sample in this study amounted to 91 respondents drawn from 118 respondents with a random sampling method to retrieve the target respondents acak.Penelitian method consists of two variables: independent variable (emotional intelligence) and the dependent variable (juvenile delinquency actions) that are collected by using questionnaires andmeasurement device with juvenile delinquency action observari. Analysis of the data used is the chi square test. Results From analysis of the data with chi square test showed that calculate X2 is 1,15 and calculate X2 tabel is 5,99 so the count calculate X2 < X2 (0,05)(2), both of which Ho is rejected, which means that there is no relationship between emotional intelligence and behavior of juvenile delinquency action in and SMK 1 Muhammadiyah Malang. Conclusion From the research that has been done there is a relationship between low emotional intelligence to acts of juvenile delinquency, so the need for relevant parties to be able to contribute positively to adolescents who have low emotional intelligence are at risk for juvenile delinquency action or already taking action to juvenile delinquency in order to minimize and prevent and overcome it.
