  • Background study: The alterations which happen to elderly people can cause the alteration to condition of physic and physical such as the need of sleep is unfulfilled. Physical, physic, physiological and environment factors are some factors which can cause the elderly people are less of sleep. Progressive muscle relaxation exercise can helps the elderly people to increase of their number of sleep time. It is happen because by progressive muscle relaxation exercise can be relaxed our muscles in order to rise the quite feeling to the elderly people. This progressive muscle relaxation exercise is started from hand muscle, shoulder muscle, face muscle, and thigh muscle. Method: This research is pre experimental research approach with one group pretest-posttest without control group. Sample is taken by simple random sampling. Data is got by giving pretest before relaxation and posttest after relaxation to the respondents who are in social house of Tresna Werda Meci Angi Bima-NTB. Result: Research which is got showing that by accounting of t-test on form of a pair. It is resulted that t-table (2,010) is less than t-count (24,56). It means that Ho is denied or H1 is received and supported with grade of significant from the result of computation by using SPSS which is showed the grade of significant as big as 0,000 (p<0,05). Conclusion: Progressive muscle relaxation is effective to increase the number of sleep time to the elderly people. By doing progressive muscle relaxation exercise routinely will help the elderly people to increase the number of sleep time.
