- Indonesia has a special characteristic in tattoo printing due to the existence of many tribes in Indonesia; therefore, it triggers the diversity of tattoo in Indonesia. Each tribe reveals assorted kinds of tattoo, making the tattoo motif in Indonesia as the priceless and precious local wisdom. It goes along with several types of tattoo used by the youth in Mojolangu District, Lowokwaru Subdistrict, which visibly represents diverse meanings. The statement of problem in this research highlights the meaning of tattoos for the youth in Mojolangu District, Lowokwaru Subdistrict. This research aims to identify the meaning of tattoo for the youth in Mojolangu District, Lowokwaru Subdistrict. This type of research is qualitative. Descriptive qualitative research will be able to reliably interpret the factual and actual data regarding situation that occurs. The number of subjects in this research is six people. The sampling technique in this research employs a snowballing sampling. Data collection of the research is acquired by conducting interviews, documentation, and unstructured observation. This research uses data analysis technique and Milles and Habermars interactive model analysis which has four structured activities: data collection, data presentation, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. This research is explained in descriptive analysis which employs the theory of symbolic interaction by George Herbert Mead to resolve and evaluate the problem. Based on the result of this research, conclusions can be drawn that there are several meanings of tattoo, and they are art, love, trendsetter, religion, lifestyle, trends following, idolization and additional accessories. Furthermore, the driving factors of the use of tattoo by the youth are the previous generation, environment, friendship and lover.
