- This study aims to determine the syringe whitening phenomenon among female students in Malang . Sampling technique in this research is to use sampling techniques purpoisive . As used as subjects in this study were : 1 ) an active student use bleach injections at UB , Polytechnic , UMM , and UM and 2 ) related to the doctor injecting bleach taken on the unfortunate city clinics that have been determined by researchers . The method uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis . Based on this research, that the phenomenon among injecting bleach student in Malang has increased along with increasing the number of clinics and many advertising media kecantiklan about injecting bleach . Basically there are two main constraints on injecting bleach is in the form of money and material adverse effects on injecting bleach itself. For those students who do inject bleach generally have the following characteristics : economic conditions in the category of middle and upper , following the lifestyle changes and the presence of self- distrust , white and gorgeous become a major source of self-confidence and easily influenced by advertising . Student perceptions of the meaning of injecting bleach is as though the individual lifestyle with injecting bleach obviously have a negative effect on the health of the body Jean Baurdilard in his book , one of the social changes that accompanied Indonesia's economic progress is the development of a lifestyle , as a social function and differentiation created by the relation of consumption . Consumption is no longer simply related to the value of the utility function in order to understand the basic needs of human beings or certain , but now associated with symbolic elements to mark a class , status or a particular symbol .
