contents Metal steel especially when positioned on the environment will be susceptible to corrosion electrolyte. Similarly, the buffer batteries, this part is up to severe corrosion due to water spillage zuur or sulfuric acid (H2SO4) from the batteries. To be able to predict the corrosion events that occurred then conducted experiments on specimens of steel with a clear specification that the composition C: 0.45%, Si: 0.30%, Mn: 0.70%. Steel specimens selected with criteria and mechanical properties approaching the mechanical properties of the steel plate buffer batteries. System of protection provided in the form of painting and coating with chrome. While the trial solution used was water batteries with a concentration of 20%, 40%, and 60%. With provisional estimates research's result / hypothesis that there is: - Type batteries protective buffer affects the corrosion rate - That the difference solution of H2SO4 concentration affect the rate of corrosion - Good protection for buffer batteries are steel with chrome coating. To get the results of research and calculation of expected and proves the truth of the hypothesis that there is, with the statistical calculation method used Completely Randomized Factorial Design (CRD factorial), followed by the least significant difference test (LSD test). As a final result of the study / trial is that the type of protection used affects the corrosion rate is evidenced by the difference in the value of the corrosion rate. The higher the concentration of H2SO4 solution will increase the rate of corrosion. Lowest corrosion rate is to use a layer of chrome.
