- Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park is a nature conservation area which has a preservation of native ecosystems managed by zoning. However, the management is still encountered some problems such as encroachment, illegal logging, poaching, grazing livestock, and so forth. Lack of cooperation of national parks and public officials around the cause of conservation efforts will not deliver. Expected that these problems can be mitigated by empowering communities around the region. This study aims to determine how much the role of community leaders and government in forest conservation efforts in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park and Assessing how much the success of conservation efforts that have been implemented as well as reviewing policies applied in the conservation of the region Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. In this research method used is descriptive research method used to portray the status of human groups, a data object or a particular condition. Determination of the informants in this study conducted by purposive sampling. Based on the results of the study showed, community leaders Ngadisari Tengger village has a role in the conservation efforts as a mediator between management TNBTS and the community, especially in terms of the delivery of information to the public. Ngadisari villagers understand the importance of conservation and its benefits and so participate in conservation, but the success rate is very small conservation undertaken resulting from environmental conditions are hilly and conditions that always brought out of Mount Bromo volcanic ash makes it difficult for plants to live. TNBTS area management policies in line with the wishes of the people Ngadisari. Thus TNBTS cooperation between parties and civil society to create a sustainable natural state has been well maintained. Community cooperation and the regional managing TNBTS TNBTS should be more intensive and continuous, especially in terms of coordination reasons, the creation of sustainable forest needs to be award of the information, so that the perception achieved with good management.
