- Liquid smoke is wood vinegar obtained from the dry distillation of the wood (Wibowo, 2002). In addition to wood, liquid smoke can also be produced from other materials one of which is rice. According to (BPS, 2012), rice in Indonesia meencapai 69,045,141 tons of great potential as raw material for liquid smoke. According to (SRI AULIA NOVITA, 2011), 5 kg of husk will produce 1.56 kg of liquid smoke and are sold for Rp. 37,000, a price -/liter chaff Rp. 100, -/kg. (Sri Aulia Novita, 2011) liquid smoke from rice husk after pyrolysis process is categorized in grade 3 that can be used as liquid fertilizer and cure wounds. As for the grade 1 can be used as a substitute for formalin functions as a natural food preservative (Solichin, 2008). However, liquid smoke from rice husk is still not able to be produced on a large for constrained devices. Then takes the design tool dry distillation (pyrolysis) with rice husk material with a capacity of 50 kg / process. Then obtained pyrolysis equipment specifications: dimensions of the oven body: inner diameter: 1 m, thickness: 1 mm, height: 900 mm, kontuksi material: steel SC 37. Fire tube: size: 1 in, height: 1000 mm, kontuksi material: steel SC 37. Condenser: beam pipe arrangement: spiral, kontuksi materials: copper, size: 1/2 in, spiral pipe spacing (J) = 0.02 m, length of pipe: 340.22 m, Number of windings: 107 turns. Needs fuel husk pyrolysis liquid smoke is 54 kg rice husk / process and the time it takes to make liquid smoke is 2.54 hours / process.
