- Discovery Learning is a way of conveying mathematical topics , such that the learning process allows students to find their own patterns or mathematical structures through a series of past learning experience . Students really as an " inventor " who actively finding based on his own views while teachers as mentors. Discovery learning is one of the cognitive learning developed by Bruner . This study was conducted to answer the problem formulation that has been made in this study are: 1 ) How learning feasibility discovery ( Discovery Learning ) on the Pythagorean Theorem material eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Malang . 2 ) How do students' mastery of learning outcomes in the application of the discovery learning ( Discovery Learning ) on the Pythagorean Theorem material eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Malang. This research was conducted in SMP Muahmmadiyah 2 Malang on January 14, 2014 until January 23, 2014 . Using observer data collection sheets , documentation and test results . Learning is performed three times and one time giving a test at the end of the meeting . The data has been obtained is then processed and analyzed according to existing procedures and concluded . Based on these results the average data obtained observations of student activity at the first meeting of 80.66 % ( excellent ) at the second meeting of 88.83 % (excellent ) at the third meeting of 89.83 % (excellent ) . Then for completeness student learning outcomes using this method of 22 students who took the tests , 18 students categorized finished with an average percentage of 81.1 % while the rest is still not finished.
