  • At the Earth's atmosphere contained a variety of gases which comprises 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen and 1% water vapor, carbon dioxide and other gases. However, the increasing numbers of substances pollutants that cause air quality in the earth diminished, it causes bad impact on human health and the environment. Air pollution is commonplace today. The Increasing number of industrial, transportation and other activities that may cause air pollution (such as forest fires, etc.) makes the air in the earth polluted. Therefore, we need an effort to tackle these problems, one of which is with the installation of catalytic converters on the industries and vehicles. The problems which contain in this thesis are how to control the impact of air pollution caused by motorcycle exhaust emissions? By conducting research to measure the levels emission of motorcycles and installing catalytic converter made of brass (Cu Zn) as a catalyst in the exhaust manifold motorcycles are expected to reduce levels of emissions released into air becomes less, environmentally friendly and less harmful to humans. The results of this thesis will be obtained levels of exhaust gas emission before and after using the catalyst in the form of graphic images by comparing the emission levels of engine speed and temperature of exhaust gas. The result obtained after installation of a catalyst in the exhaust manifold is as follow: at variable of engine speed around 4000 rpm, catalysts able to reduce the emission levels at most, from 19.9% to 7%, and at variable of exhaust gas temperature is the most effective at temperature of 80-100 OC. Viewed from Specific fuel consumption (sfc), it can reduce 6.26% gas emission which is at about 4000 rpm engine speed.
