- Generally, learning mathematics is teacher-centered and delivered verbally. So far mathematics is always seen as a difficult subject , learning in school tends to be theoretical. The role of students in each lesson only as a passive listener . By using picture as teaching aid, the students are expected to be active and creative while participating in the classes. To use picture as teaching aid , teachers are required to motivate , to build self-confidence in students by explaining the purpose of learning, so that students get the information before the lesson and the students have an idea of what will be taught in the classroom. This study aims to apply mathematics learning about numbers 1-10, to know the students learning activities during the process and to determine the students' mastery of numbers 1-10 by using the pictures. This study is categorized as descriptive-qualitative research. The data sources of this study are observation, student response and results of students’ worksheet (the worksheet was given when learning takes place ) . Analysis of the data is calculated by calculating each indicator. Then summing and finding the average that show the percentage of teachers activity, students’ activity and students’ response. Meanwhile, to analyze the use of media can be seen from teacher learning activities that demonstrate from teacher learning activities that demonstrate the use of media according the purpose of learning, the use of media to encourage students activity, the continuity of the use of media and engage the students directly to improve memory and the use of media to evaluate progress of the class. The source of the data in this study were all students of class II – tuna grahita SLB Bhakti Luhur Malang . This research was conducted on October, 24th-28th 2013. The data that was obtained from this research are students’ activity, teacher’s activity, and also students’ response are good. While the learning outcomes of students have reached mastery in the classical learning. Learning by using teaching aid can enhance students' understanding, memory and activity in the following study.
