  • Product quality can be defined as conformity or customer satisfaction of a product. The importance of the quality of a product is one of the important policies in improving the competitiveness of products that should give satisfaction to the consumer exceeds the quality of the products of competitors. Improving the quality of products in the hope of achieving defect levels approaching zero defect products. PT. Malindo Intitama Raya is a company engaged in the manufacturing of furniture. PT.Malindo Intitama Kingdom had problems with the high defect foam products in foam production process, defects that occur in one day exceeds the tolerance limits have been given company. Defect defect that occurs as burning, pore defects, defects and defects torn uneven. By looking at the high level of defects in the foam it needs suggestions for improvement on product quality foam. The method used is the six sigma implementation tool pokayoke. In six sigma through the 5 stages of operation, the DMAIC (Define - Measurements - Analyze-Improve - Control), is expected to find the cause and exact solutions that can give you suggestions on the improvement of product quality and improve use tool implementation stage using poka yoke through two approaches, control devices and warning devices. Of processing the data obtained Pareto diagram that there is a defect highest pore defects, defects and defects torn uneven then the third type of defect is potentially critical to quality. Results of studies using six sigma known foam production process sigma value is 3,658 and the DPMO is 15.460. Factors that cause disability are human, machine, conditions and methods of production space. The proposal given to the method of poka yoke is through the approach control devices and warning devices. On control devices such as timers and sensors, the warning devices such as alarms, lights and measuring cup labeled red and yellow. Recommendations for improvement are given in the form of standard operation procedure (SOP) in accordance with the proposals that have been given.
