  • PT. Cahaya Mas Makmur is plastic processing manufacturing company. Waste is an activity which not gives an additional value to product from consumer perspective. The obstacles was faced are waste exist in process production. To decrease waste, the researcher used Lean Thinking concept. The purpose of this research is to determine waste that frequently happened along with occurred cause and gave some suggestion for the company. First step that did is by illustrating used big picture mapping. To determine waste that happened used brainstorming method to collect the data and questionnaire for the company. Then, doing mapping in detail to determine tools by using Value Stream Analysis Tools (VALSAT). Next step, to decide cause of waste by using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) method, and will be continued by giving some reduction suggestions of waste with concept 5W-1H. From the result of mapping and collecting data, found waste frequently occurred are waste unapproriate processing about 18,31% and waste defect about 16,57%. According to waste from VALSAT result, tools that will be used is process activity mapping for waste unapproriate processing and found delay in PE process with time apart during 450 minutes/shift. Moreover, tool for waste defect that will be used is Quality Filter Mapping, known that defect always happened in welding process in term of defect, not sticky plastic. The result of RCA, for waste unapproriate processing is unavailable scheduling for worker, especially for handling material. And for waste defect that frequently happened caused of lacking information about how to use and maintain welding machine. Then, the result of concept 5W-1H suggested for reducing waste that happen by making schedule and adding some workers in material handling activity and giving instruction about how to use machine and how to do preventive maintenance for machine in welding process.
