  • Based on initial observations that have been carried out by researchers at January 20, 2013 that : ( 1 ) students are less excited when he joined the math, ( 2 ) students are rarely filed statements regarding the subject matter being discussed, ( 3 ) lack of attention to student and teacher explanations ( 4 ) students feel scared when they appoint teachers to solve problems on the board. It can be concluded that the situation SDN Barurejo II in the learning process takes place tend to be passive. Thus the researchers used a method of learning where learning method Demonstration Demonstration is a method of teaching that uses modeling to clarify the meaning or to show to the whole class about a process or a hint to do sesuatu. Formulation problem of this research is the application of learning methods Demonstration How to material around the square and rectangular, How student learning outcomes Barurejo II Elementary School third grade of the material around the square and rectangular Demonstrasi. Research after using the learning method uses a qualitative approach to the type of PTK. Classroom action research subjects were students of SDN Barurejo II III Classroom school year 2012/2013, amounting to 27 students, with a composition of 10 female students and 17 male students . This classroom action research consisted of 2 cycles, each cycle consisting of four phases of activities, including planning, action, observation, and reflection . Based on overall student mastery gained from the pre-action test average of 70 in the first cycle increased to 73.15 . continued to cycle 2 and the result is increased from 73,15 to 80,92 . While in terms of mastery learning for each student who meets KKM 70 in the first cycle were 19 students or 70.37 % and is said to increase from cycle 2 that as many as 24 students or 88.92 % . The conclusions that can be drawn from this study is the method of demonstration learning can improve learning outcomes and cultivate student activities . Researchers suggested that the demonstration of learning methods can be applied to classes and other materials as an alternative learning to improve learning outcomes and cultivate students in classroom activities .
