  • Royal company produces apple extract with a size of 120 ml and 200 ml, in size of 120 ml the number of product defects that exceed the tolerance limit of the company, in average the number of product defects is as much as 6.5%, while the tolerance limit of the company is not more than 2.5%. The purpose of this final assignment is to analyze the factors causing defects in the Royal Company, to determine the most dominant defect and propose improvements to reduce the number of defects by using six sigma methods. The stages of the study include: the first is define stage i.e. the selection of objects researched, identify the type of physical defects, and flowchart of production process. While on measure stage, determine which products are critical to the quality of CTQ (Critical to Quality) using pareto diagram, measure the level of physical defects in the form of DPMO and sigma level that will be the early foundation of performance. Furthermore, on analyze stage; analyze the types of defects that become the foundation of the main problems in improving the quality and what factors causing the physical defects by using fishbone diagram. The next stage is improve stage, use failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) to determine the corrective action plan recommendations. Based on the research results, it is gained value of sigma level of 3:35 and CTQ is leaking-package defect and stickers are not suitable. It needs improvement recommendations for improve stages, the recommendation could be in form of making Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and check sheet for pressing process.
