- Students need to get a fairly active and can interact with the other students when learning processes takes place. Through these interactions, students will exchange ideas and knowledge when studying a subject matter, especially mathematics. One method involves teaching students to be able to interact with other students, mutual cooperation, mutual responsibility and to train students to understand the material through discussion among students is by communicating and thinking skills of students using active learning model think pair share. This research aims to describe the application of learning models think pair share through observation of students communication and thinking skills of students. in addition, to determine students learning results obtained after execution of tests. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach while the kind of research is descriptive. The research was conducted on August 31-2012 up to September 7-2012. This is only choosing one class as research subjects were 19 students VIIIE in SMP Negeri 2 Poncokusumo. Based on the analysis of student communication and thinking skills of students in the execution of think pair share application model, during two meetings of the learning processes can be carried out well by looking at the percentage of students achieving 79% of communication and thinking skills students reached 87.5% . students learning results obtained after the application model think pair share as many 16 students have achieved mastery scores of individuals, while the unfinished as much 3 students. Learning results classically have achieved classical completeness standards which have been decided by the ministry of education because many students who finished in the classical high as 70%. The thing to note in this research processes is the allocation of time in the implementation learning and observing students when learning takes places in order that the material taught is completed on time according to plan.
