  • The views of high school students in general, mathematics is a difficult subject to understand and easy to forget previously learned material. This causes students to solve a difficult math problem, a lot of reasons that came out is that students forget a formula or a way to count them. Similar problems occurred in class X school Ardjuna Malang. Because students do not understand and forget the previous material, so when faced with a math problem they are always open and looking back at the previous material, students also often very hard trying to remember'd read back formula or calculated. The study aims to describe the ability to complete the operation count fraction Ardjuna high school students of class X Malang was held on 9-10 July 2012 with the qualitative and quantitative approaches descriptive Problems type of research discussed in this study is the ability of students completing fractional arithmetic operations using about story as a medium to describe the ability of the student. There are four aspects of the assessment are used to determine the ability to calculate the fraction of students completing the operation, namely: understanding the problem, planning the completion strategy, implement the completion strategy, and to re-examine the results. Of the fourth aspect, 16.67% of students were able to resolve the problem solving. Then at 83.33% of the students are not able to resolve the problem solving, the fractional count complete the operation, the type of operation to calculate the sum of 100% of students who are able and 0% of students are not able to count on the type of in addition to the operations of addition. On the type of operation count reduction by 50% students are able to and 50% of students are not able to count on the type of surgery reduction. On the count multiplication operation type with 66.67% of students who are able and 33.33% of students are not able to count on the type of surgery multiple. On the count operation type distribution 75% of students who able and 25% of students are not able to count on the type of surgery division. On the concept percent with details as follows: 33.33% of students who are able and 66.67% of students are not able to draft percent.
