  • MathematicÂ’s Learning in cube and block done by the teachers use the conventional approach. Students only memorize the formulas given by the teacher. Students seldom are given the oppurtinity to find the formula of solid volume. The problem impact not optimal on studentÂ’s achievement. In order to increase student achievement, we need a serious struggle to built studentÂ’s understanding and studentÂ’s learning activity about a cube and block. Here we implement guided discovery learning. The purpose of research is to describe a guided discovery learning that can increase studentÂ’s mathematics learning achievement at junior high school 1 Tajinan Class VIII on the subject especially the cube and block. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach to the type for classroom action research (CAR). The research was conducted on junior high school 1 Tajinan class VIII A for 33 students. There are 3 interview subjects consist of High skill, Medium skill and low skill. Selection of interview subjects based on test results and advice from teacher. Based on research results are obtained that guided discovery learning can improve students learningÂ’s achievement about the cube and block on junior high school 1 Tajinan Class VIII consists of some steps, among others: (1) teacher divides the group of 4-5 students, (2) teacher gives the students a problem to be solved in the form of LKS, (3) students looking for information, data, and facts needed to answer the problem, (4) teacher helps students with information / the data needed, (5) teacher gives a motivation to the interaction between students, (6) Students make conjectures (forecasts) from the analysis done, (7) Each group prepares findings, which was then one of the representatives of member groups present in front classes, (8) Applying the conclusions / generalizations in new situations, (9) evaluation. The results showed an increase in learningÂ’s result from cycle I to cycle II amounting to 32.9% and the learning is activies also increase.
