Thus, the purposes of this study &#xD; are to find out the factors which make the sixth semester students interested in choosing the &#xD; translation subject and to know the students&#x2019; expectations in following the translation subject. &#xD; The research design of this study was descriptive research. The population of this study was the &#xD; sixth semester students of English Department who had taken the translation subject. Meanwhile, &#xD; for the instrument, the researcher used questionnaire as a tool to know the factors that made &#xD; students interested in choosing the translation subject. This study used percentage in analyzing &#xD; the data. &#xD; The findings show that there were six factors which made the sixth semester students interested &#xD; in choosing the translation subject. Out of 69 students, 35 students (50.8%) chose the translation &#xD; subject because they wanted to have more understanding in reading English books, 33 students &#xD; (46.4%) chose it because they agreed that translation played an important role in international &#xD; communication, 45 students (65.2%) said translation subject could help them in improving their &#xD; skill in translating, 45 students (65.2%) stated that their interest in translation subject arises &#xD; because of the difficulties that they faced caused by the lacked of vocabularies which arise their &#xD; curiosity to learn more about translation, 42 students (60.8%) said that they were interested in &#xD; translation because they did not have ability to be translators or interpreters, and 23 students &#xD; (33.4%) stated they were interested in translation subject because they liked to translate English &#xD; texts into Indonesian ,or vice versa, in their spare time. &#xD; In addition, related to the answer of the second problem, there were three students&#x2019; expectations &#xD; in following the translation subject.
