- The aims of this study are to determine the number of decomposers in each media composition in the manufacture of compost with the influence on the growth and the result of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) type of green leaves. The study was conducted from March until June 2013 at the Experimental Garden Green House FPP UMM with a height of ± 550m asl (above sea level). This study uses a Randomized Block Design (RBD) is arranged with 2 factors. First factor, Material Composition (K) while second factor, Number of Decomposers (J). Each factor consists of 3 levels which is combined to produce 27 variations and repeated 3 times with using 5 samples. In this study, the first activity is to composting. Appropriate the treatment, composting process is done by mixing all of organic material. After all the ingredients are mixed then added decomposers. Made observations on the compost to determine temperature, pH, C/N ratio of compost, nutrient content of compost (organic material, c-organic, nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K). Observations began at the age of 7 days after planting (DAP), with an interval of 7 days. Observations were made in non-destructive and destructive. Non-destructive parameter includes: plant height (cm) per plant, number of leaves (pieces) per plant, while destructive observations include: dry weight (g) per plant. The results of the observations on the content of the compost show that there is significant interaction on the content of the compost except on potassium. Combination treatment K3J3 (composition of compost material are 50% green waste: 15% cow dung: 15% chicken dung: 20% the rest of mushroom media which is added 1000 ml/35 decomposers) are better than other treatment combinations. While the observations of the plant show that there is significant interaction on all variables compost application to the plant. The observations of plant height showed 60% material composition of green waste + 15% cow dung + 15% chicken manure + 10% the rest of mushroom media which is added decomposers 1000 ml/35kg (K1J2) gives relatively best results while the amount of leaf material composition 50% of green waste + 15% cow dung + 15% chicken manure + 20% the rest of mushroom media which is added decomposers 1000 ml/35kg (K3J2) give the best. On the observations wet weight and dry weight of the treatment composition 50% green waste + 15% cow dung + 15% chicken manure + 20% the rest of mushroom media which is added decomposers 1000 ml/35kg (K3J2) gives the highest results.
