The purpose of this research is to find empirical evidence of the influence of the elements in the application of good corporate governance on the performance of the banking company in Indonesia. Population employed in this research are companies listed on the Indonesia stock exchange (idx), while the sample is a banking company for the period 2008-2010. Sampling done by the method of purposive sampling. Hypothesis testing is done by multiple regression analysis. From the results of testing a hypothesis, suggests that the influence of corporate governance that effected by the Commissioner of the independent has a positive and significant relationship to performance. The results of this research also shows that the size of the Board of Directors and audit committee have positive relationships but significantly no effect on performance. However, the institutional ownership and size of the Board of Commissioners has significantly negative relationship and cannot affect the performance. In general the results of this research show good corporate governance is still a problem in order to improve the objectives to be achieved by the shareholders, stakeholders are also goals of the company.
