- Every people were burn in natural condition. But, as long as growing and development genetically experience problem, both growing and development problem that have genetically characteristic such as physical defect, mental and psychology disturb and others. For deaf adolescent may emerge complexity problems. The problems is not just medically, but it will have problem psychologically for social adjustment and self esteem. The social adjustment for deaf adolescent in their life is just to adjust their self in their life in order to increase their self esteem, along with accept support from others and environment. If deaf adolescent may not do social adjustment well so they will experience constraint and problems in their relationship with others, it is able to adjust self and feel they are valued. Therefore, this study is carried out to know correlation social adjustment and self esteem to deaf adolescent. This study is correlation study which have goal to know correlation among social adjustment and self esteem to deaf adolescent. The population are deaf adolescent in SMPLB (Sekolah Menengah Pertama Luar Biasa/Junior High School) and SMALB (Sekolah Menengah Atas Luar Biasa/Senior High School) of Eka Mandiri. The samples are 45 subjects. The sampling technique is total samples technique. The data collecting methods in this study use 2 scale that social adjustment scale and self esteem scale. The data analysis method is used in this study is product moment correlation by Karl Pearson. Based data analysis result, it may be taken conclusion that there are positive correlation significantly (r = 0,752: p = 0,000) among social adjustment and self esteem. It gives mean that social adjustment better will make self esteem higher. The determinant coefficient (r2) of social adjustment for self esteem about 0.566. it gives mean that the effective contribution of social adjustment to self esteem about 56,6% while the residual is 43,4% is influenced by other factors which not research by researcher.
