- The Children can’t be separated from the things that connected with playing. For the children, playing is need that appear naturally.Pretend playing is one of example of playing activity because the children will try understand the languange and they will try speak in symbol languange. This game has the benefit for the children, it will help mild mentally. Retarded of the children in developing the way of thinking and it will help them be more creative when they be adult. From the things, so this research aimed to know and describe about activity of pretend playing toward mild mentally retarded children from 9 to 12 years old. The research is done in around of Tlogomas and Tasikmadu environment at 20 January to 1 February 2009. It use qualitative descriptive research method. The total subject in this research is 3 person and it has mild mental retarded characteristic. Technique of data collecting in this research is observation toward subject and interview toward their parent as subject. Analysis technique used is qualitative analysis. The result of research show that: (1). All of subject that become research subject have variety of theme and the role of pretend playing is variety. (2). If the see the type trend of retarded mentally mild child playing from 9 to 12 years old, they play pretend playing with the other people and also they play this playing alone and their playing have complexs characteristic. (3). When they were playing, their stimulus come from their experience and what they see in daily. (4). The frequency to play pretend playing in one day approximate is once to twice. From all of object can be taken the conclude that they always play pretend playing everyday, despite they must replay the theme every day.
