  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between personality type hardiness with burnout in nurses. In every person's life must have pressure, but setian people have their own ways to overcome them. One of the factors that may affect the individual to cope with any stressors that it faces is an individual characteristic. Personality characteristics that can handle the stressor is personality hardiness. Personality hardiness has three aspects: commitment, control and challenge, if someone has a tendency personality hardiness is good then the individual is not susceptible to stress. Burnout is a symptom of physical fatigue, mental, emotional, caused by prolonged stress experienced by the people who work. Nurses are the types of jobs are at risk of experiencing burnout, because nurses working in an environment that supports the emergence of burnout. The hypothesis of this research is that there is a negative relationship between the type of personality hardiness with burnout in nurses. This study used a sample of 60 nurses working in ICU and CICU room. A total of 40 people who worked the room ICU nurses and 20 nurses who worked the room CICU. This study used the scale method, a method performed to obtain research data using a scale that contains statements relating to the variables studied. Data analysis done using product moment correlation method. The results showed r = -0 662 and p = 0.00, which means there is a significant negative relationship between personality hardiness with a burnout in nurses, that the higher the hardiness personality then burnout on nurses will be low, and vice versa the lower the burnout personality hardiness the nurse will be high. Effective contribution hardiness against burnout by 44% means that personality hardiness one of the factors that affect burnout.
